Social Media Support VA (Chinese speaker)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and culturally fluent Chinese Social Media Manager to support content adaptation, publishing, and platform management for Chinese audiences. This role focuses on translating, refining, and distributing pre-existing English content across key Chinese social platforms while ensuring cultural relevance and engagement.

The ideal candidate understands Chinese language, culture, and digital behavior, and has a working knowledge of social media marketing strategies within China’s ecosystem.

Scope of Work:

  • Adapt and translate English content into culturally appropriate Chinese content
  • Edit, refine, and “polish” pre-created materials (articles, posts, long-form content)
  • Break down long-form content into short-form social media posts
  • Manage and publish content across platforms such as:
    • WeChat (Official Account & Moments)
    • Little Red Book (Xiaohongshu)
  • Optimize content format, tone, and structure based on platform best practices
  • Schedule and manage posts, ensuring consistency and timing strategy
  • Maintain brand voice and messaging aligned with provided guidelines
  • Use AI tools to assist with content generation, translation, and refinement
  • Monitor basic engagement and iterate content where needed
  • (Optional / As needed)
    • Support lead generation and outreach
    • Initiate conversations and help book appointments/calendar meetings
    • Assist with additional admin or marketing-related tasks

Additional Notes:

  • Content will primarily be provided; the role focuses on adaptation rather than creation from scratch
  • Workload may vary depending on content volume and publishing cadence
  • Opportunity to expand responsibilities as systems and workflows become more efficient

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English (written and comprehension required)
  • Strong understanding of Chinese culture, audience behavior, and communication nuances
  • Experience managing or contributing to Chinese platforms (WeChat, Xiaohongshu, etc.)
  • Background in social media marketing or digital marketing preferred
  • Familiarity with content strategy, posting cadence, and engagement tactics
  • Ability to independently interpret and adapt content, not just translate literally
  • Experience using AI tools for content creation or translation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-starter with willingness to learn platform algorithms and trends

Mandatory requirements:

  • Experience managing or owning a social media account with measurable growth
  • Familiarity with Chinese platform algorithms, trends, and posting strategies
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant work (content, accounts handled, campaigns, etc.)

Tools & Systems:

  • AI Large Language Models (e.g., ChatGPT or similar tools)
  • Content/document repositories (brand guidelines, reference materials provided)
  • Basic design tools (e.g., Canva or similar – optional but helpful)
  • Social media platforms:
    • WeChat (Official Account & Moments)
    • Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book)
  • Time tracking and reporting tools (required by agency)

Shifts & Hours:

  • Minimum: 10 hours per week
    • Flexible schedule
  • Initial onboarding period (first 2–3 weeks) may require partial overlap with client for alignment
  • Ongoing work can be asynchronous after onboarding
