Web Developer

Role Overview:

We are seeking a WordPress & WooCommerce Web Developer to support a short-term website migration project for a consulting company based in Ontario, Canada. The company specializes in delivering technological solutions for businesses, including custom website development and WordPress implementations.

The immediate project involves assisting with the migration of a client’s eCommerce website from Shopify to WordPress/WooCommerce. The core infrastructure and complex integrations with a third-party print vendor have already been implemented. The developer will focus primarily on content migration, page building, and front-end adjustments to recreate the appearance and structure of the client’s previous website.

This role is ideal for someone comfortable with WordPress site building, WooCommerce configuration, and front-end web technologies, with minimal planning required as tasks will largely involve transferring and rebuilding existing content.

Scope of Work:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with migrating website content from the previous Shopify site to a WordPress instance.
  • Recreate pages to match the design and layout of the existing website.
  • Perform content copying and formatting (cutting content from the existing site and implementing it in WordPress).
  • Configure and organize WooCommerce product pages and product variations.
  • Implement layout and styling adjustments using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript where necessary.
  • Support the CTO with general WordPress site building tasks and adjustments.
  • Ensure pages render correctly and maintain consistent styling and usability.
  • Communicate any technical questions or clarifications during development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience building and modifying WordPress pages and layouts.
  • Ability to follow instructions and replicate existing website designs.
  • Strong attention to detail when migrating content and formatting pages.
  • Knowledge of PHP (a plus, as WooCommerce is built on PHP).
  • Experience with eCommerce website migrations.
  • Familiarity with product variations and WooCommerce product configuration.

Shifts & Working Hours:

  • Semi-flexible schedule
    • Developers can work independently but should expect occasional delays in feedback due to timezone differences.
    • Client timezone: Eastern Time (Ontario, Canada)
  • Short-term project engagement
    • Initial contract structured as a 30-hour package
    • Unused hours may potentially be applied to future work depending on project arrangements.
  • Target Start Date: Urgent hiring
    • Expected start: within 1–2 weeks, possibly early next week depending on candidate availability and interview completion.
